Is Cloud ready for Financial Services?

Once in a decade a new technology comes along that fundamentally shifts the bar on what we do and how we do it.  The relational database, client-server, the internet.  Cloud is the next game-changing addition to that list. With the cost of compute falling and the unit of compute shifting to an entire data centre concepts like AI and Machine Learning, first proposed in the 40’s and 50’s are now a reality.  We are living in the future.  But is the future ready for Financial Services?  Who controls “your” data when it’s in the cloud?  Where does it go?  What are the tax implications? How does disaster recovery work when Google or the internet goes “down”?
